Emma graduated from Safety Town. I'm not sure if every city has Safety Town, but I think it's a pretty popular idea. In our city, it's a free program that all children entering kindergarten are encouraged to participate in. It's run by the police department and teen volunteers. It's a great program where the kids learn all about safety and have a chance to ride a school bus. Emma has learned about all kinds of safety - bus, car, bike, animal, gun, poison, water, electricity, fire, and stranger safety to name a few. Let me tell you, she is quite the expert on safety now. Maybe she's a little too much into the safety thing, she is taking safety very seriously. It takes us forever to go across a parking lot when she's around - there is lots of looking both ways, looking both ways again, and then looking both ways one more time.

This is part of the little practice town and street. The kids get to ride cars on the street and practice crossing in the crosswalks. Emma thought it was pretty cool.
Miss Safety
She is so cute. My son wants to go so bad...and he really needs to go. I need to check into it. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks also for the doggie advice.
I love safety town - all three of our kids went and it's at our school during the summer but put on by the 3 police depts in the district that attend the school and teen volunteers too!
ReplyDeleteIt's really a great program and one that isn't everywhere as I found out from my out of town friends when I posted on my mommy board about our kids attending.
So glad our towns provide it!!!
