pumpkins, flowers, and watermelons

As our girlies have been growing up, they have enjoyed planting a garden each spring with Grammy & Papa at their house.  The garden is a vegetable garden with green beans, tomatoes, zucchini, and peppers.  The girls also help to plant pumpkins, gourds, and sunflowers.  This year they even tried to plant some watermelon.  Their favorite part of the whole garden experience is harvest time.

Lily loves looking for pumpkins on the vine.

We didn't think the watermelons made it, but Papa found one as he was cleaning out the garden.  It's the watermelon that Lily planted.

As you can see, it's a teeny tiny watermelon.

Grammy has the honor of cutting into the watermelon.

not much red in that melon

Lily did give it a taste test.  It smelled like watermelon...

Even though it didn't look like a watermelon inside, it tasted like one.  Lily gave it her stamp of approval.
