Weekend Highlights

We had a busy weekend.  It was fun, even though the weather was rainy most of the weekend.   Here's our weekend highlights -

Brownie Troop Party
First up was an end of the year party with Gracie's Brownie troop (I'm her leader) at an art center.  The girls got to make and then paint a cupcake box.  We then headed to McDonald's for dinner.  The girls had so much fun.  It was a great way to the end the year school year with our troop.

Gracie with her creation.

All of the cupcake boxes the girls made - they turned out so cute!

Dance Recital
Saturday morning was Lily and Emma's dance recital.  It was their very first recital and they did such a good job.  I'm such a sap at those things - the minute I heard the music and they started dancing, I started crying.  There were a few funny moments with Lily - she was dancing her heart out - so then I started laughing.  It was so fun to see them perform, I so enjoyed watching them.   I wish I had pictures and video of their performance to share, but you weren't allowed to video or take pictures during the performance.  I was able to buy a video though for a mere $35.  It's so not cheap to have girls!

This was after their performance - they were happy that it was over and that they did a good job.

The big hair cut!
Emma has been growing her hair out all school year to donate it.  I told her she needed to wait until after her dance recital, I knew she would want to wear a "ballerina bun" at the recital.  So as soon as the recital was over, she was ready to go and get her hair cut.  I mean she was READY!  She wanted to go immediately to the salon, she couldn't wait.  She was very excited to get a hair cut and to donate her hair to someone who had lost theirs.  We decided to donate to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program.  It's a great organization that offers free wigs to those who have lost their hair to cancer.  We went to a cute kiddie salon and Emma donated 8 inches.  She was so happy and proud of herself.  She has such a kind heart, she kept saying that someone was going to be happy to get her wig and she wanted them to be happy since they were sick.   In her 5 year old mind, she's thinking that her hair donation will make one whole wig and within the week another girl will be happy to have new hair.  Of course, I'm not going to tell her that there is more involved with the process because eventually, someone will be happy to get a wig that has been made with some of Emma's hair.  Em loves her new hair cut.  I think it looks so darn cute!  Although she suddenly looks older, she's growing up way too fast!

Emma before we went to the salon, can you see her excitement?  She couldn't wait!

We also had dinner with my in-laws on Saturday night and dinner with my parents on Sunday.  It was nice to hang out with our parents this weekend and who doesn't love a free meal?!  :)  Hope you enjoyed your weekend too!
